Mexico

With a rich heritage deeply rooted in ancient civilizations such as the Aztecs and Mayans, Mexico’s cultural experiences are a treasure trove of history, art, and tradition. The mariachi bands that serenade the plazas and restaurants, the graceful folk dances that tell tales of love and folklore and the elaborate Day of the Dead celebrations that honour deceased loved ones; all showcase the heritage and vibrant shades of the country. Wandering through the art-filled neighbourhoods of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera in Mexico City, witnessing the spiritual rituals performed by indigenous communities in Oaxaca and soaring on a hot-air balloon ride to explore the awe-inspiring ruins of Chichen Itza and Teotihuacan, the country proves how it embraces the diversity and celebrates its past with immense pride.

The traditional artistic techniques and native crafts used by the ancestors are still applied today in various parts of Mexico. The bronze artwork in Michoacan, Talavera pottery in Puebla and the Mayan traditions of cloth embroidery, indigenous jewellery making and basket weaving in Southern Mexico are unique art forms that reflect the history of Mexico but are still relevant and passed down through inter-generational workshops.
